Genetics of anatolia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Anatolia is a historically regional place in turkiye with rich culture the Anatolian region is bounded by the Mediterranean Sea to the south, the Aegean Sea to the west, the Turkish Straits to the north-west, and the Black Sea to the north. The eastern and southeastern boundary is either the southeastern and eastern borders of Turkey[1] the region have been ruled by lot of kingdoms and empires though the years. that why The genetics of anatolia have been change with the main genetics of the place being turkish or greek it depends the area

Haplogroup distributions[edit]

The main percentages of Y chromosome haplogroups identified in the 2004 study were as follows:

  • J2: 24%. J2 (M172) may reflect the spread of Anatolian farmers. J2-M172 is "mainly confined to the Mediterranean coastal areas, southeastern Europe and Anatolia", as well as West Asia and Central Asia.
  • R1b: 15.9%. R1b is found in Europe, West Asia, Central Asia, Southern Asia, some parts of the Sahel region of Africa.
  • G: 10.9%. Haplogroup G has also been associated with the spread of agriculture (together with J2 clades) and is "largely restricted to populations of the Caucasus and the Near/Middle East and southern Europe." The G2a subclade in particular is associated with the Early European Farmers, who in turn descend from the Anatolian farmers.
  • E3b-M35: 10.7% (E3b1-M78 and E3b3-M123 accounting for all E representatives in the sample, besides a single E3b2-M81 chromosome). E-M78 is common along a line from the Horn of Africa via Egypt to the Balkans. Haplogroup E-M123 is found in both Africa and Eurasia.
  • J1: 9%
  • R1a: 6.9%
  • I: 5.3%
  • K: 4.5%
  • L: 4.2%
  • N: 3.8%
  • T: 2.5%
  • Q: 1.9%
  • C: 1.3%
  • R2: 0.96%

the Greek DNA in Anatolia[edit]

The Greek admixture in Anatolia Starts from centuries ago in the ancient Greek civilization which Greeks actually move in the region of Anatolia. The cause is of the Doric people(Paleo-Balkanic) they start an invasion in Greece. so Greek tribal people like Ionians and Myceneans move mostly to the coast of Anatolia(izmir, troy,Bosporus, even Pontus). And thought the years they go deeper and deeper at Anatolia. This also the reason why native Anatolian people for example Phrygians Lydians and Hittites mixed with them and sometimes this cause wars or topic vendettas. The Greek people been living and mixing there with native Anatolians from ancient ages to byzantine empire. And the reason why Greeks there lose their identity is cause in 1922-23(not in the exchange population) after Turkish war of Independence The Turkish leader Mustafa Kemal Ataturk implemented a new law to the Greeks that if they want to stay in Turkey they have to convert to Islam get Turkish identity and speaking only the Turkish language. after years in 2020 the DNA studies start from lot of companies around the world companies like my ancestry 23andme and Vahaduo[2]

there have been some studies about the Greek DNA in Anatolia aka turkey since 2021 this study start by some companies the reason were cause a lot of Turkish people found Around 50% Greek DNA at their DNA tests or at their genetic studies this also caused problems cause lot of Turks doesn't accept that they got Greek genetics this are some DNA samples and studies that have been found not only from Anatolia but also around Turkey[3]:

The total Greek DNA In the region Of Anatolia Is Around 24-35% This came from the Main J2 Haplogroup(Y-DNA) that it turns out to be Greek-southern Italian Genetics which Lot of Turks found it in their DNA Test results

Altaic Turkish Genetics in Anatolia[edit]

Two earlier (2000 and 2002) studies suggested that, although the Turks' settlement of Anatolia was of cultural importance, including the introduction of the Turkish language and Islam, the genetic contribution from Central Asia may have been slight. A 2020 global study looking at whole-genome sequences showed that Turks have relatively lower within-population shared identical-by-descent [5]genomic fragments compared to the rest of the world, suggesting mixture of remote population.

A 2006 study concluded that the true Central Asian contributions to Anatolia was 13% for males and 22% for females (with wide ranges of confidence intervals), and the language replacement in Turkey and might not have been in accordance with the elite dominance model.[6]

It was later observed that the male contribution from Central Asia to the Turkish population with reference to the Balkans was 13%. For all non-Turkic speaking populations, the Central Asian contribution was higher than in Turkey. According to the study, "the contributions ranging between 13%–58% must be considered with a caution because they harbor uncertainties about the state of Pre-nomadic invasion and further local movements.[7]

But the actual and most serious resource is that Most Turkish people have like 30% medieval Turkic ancestry which is about 15% east Asian iirc. The only Greeks clustering with Anatolian Turks are Pontic Greeks who themselves are West Asians genetically. Turkish Turks are basically Anatolian North West Asians (similar to southern Caucasians)+ Turkic.[8]

Caucasian DNA in Anatolia[edit]

The Caucasian DNA In Anatolia is very low most of it are of Armenian and Georgian origin and it mostly exist in the eastern areas areas on Anatolia There Haven't been found lot of resources or studies about the Caucasian DNA of the place but it depends the Person and His Phenotype mostly.
