From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Improvolution is an improv school based in New York City's Greenwich Village. It is NYC's only character-based improv school.

Improvolution was founded in 2002 by Holly Mandel[1], and is the only female-founded improv school in New York City. The school offers various types of classes in improv, including signature level 12-week classes and 1-day workshops. It is currently run by: Holly Mandel, Rebecca Stuard, Sarah Hicks, and Mallory Kinney.[2][3]

Inspiration[edit]

The classes are heavily inspired by the improv principles used by Neva Boyd and Viola Spolin.[4] Improvolution teaches improv behind a "character lens". They focus on teaching the basics first, and format later.
